What do 4,000 volunteers, 25,000 meals, and 9,400 pounds of turkey have in common? The answer: The Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner, of course!

For over four decades, this annual tradition, lovingly referred to as The Feast of the Heart, has sought to bring together community on Thanksgiving Day by serving seniors and those in need with a hot, delicious meal and a sense of togetherness. After all, no one should have to celebrate the holiday alone.

As in previous years, we felt honored to join the thousands of volunteers who helped make the dinner a reality. Our team rolled up our sleeves and got to work prepping and seasoning yams before moving on to turkeys—deboning and breaking them into serving pieces.

For Vickie Torres, one of our Realtors® and Transaction Coordinators, this was her first year volunteering.

“I’ve been part of events similar to this but never one of this magnitude,” she said. “It was incredible to see this well-oiled machine at work and how it takes so many hands and hearts to ensure it goes off without a hitch. Helping the community is always rewarding, but doing it alongside my colleagues made it even more meaningful. Knowing that they care makes me proud to work here.”

Now in its 45th year, the Raul Jimenez Thanksgiving Dinner was founded by San Antonio restaurateur Raul Jimenez Sr.. His vision was to ensure no one spent Thanksgiving hungry or alone. Today, it has grown into one of the city’s largest Thanksgiving benefits, providing a warm meal, live entertainment, and fellowship to about 25,000 people annually. This year alone, volunteers served turkey with all the trimmings, including 6,250 pounds of green beans, 4,688 pounds of cranberry sauce, and 3,000 pumpkin pies.

“We have grown because of the city of San Antonio,” Raul said. “This event is about the people serving the people. It’s really amazing to see everyone coming together for the right reasons.”

For our team, giving back to the community we call home is more than a tradition—it’s a core value. We love being part of events like this that highlight the power of community and kindness. As we reflect on the experience, we’re reminded that the smallest gestures can make the biggest impact.
